Defence forces confirm they re-attacked Russian oil depot in Engels – videos

The 14th Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Regiment of the Air Force of Ukraine has confirmed that they have struck an oil depot in the Russian city of Engels again. As a result of the attack, tanks containing fuel for Tu-160 bombers are on fire.

Quote: “Overnight [on 13-14 January], the operators of the 14th Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Regiment, in cooperation with other units of the defence forces, re-attacked the infrastructure of the Engels-2 military airbase, where Tu-95MS and Tu-160 aircraft of the 22nd Guards Heavy Bomber Aviation Division are based.
As a result of the damage, tanks containing scarce aviation fuel for Tu-160 bombers, which Russia uses to terrorise the civilian population of Ukraine, have caught fire at the Kombinat Kristal oil storage facility.”

Details: The 14th Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Regiment noted that “a several-day complex operation to reduce the capabilities of enemy strategic aviation has been completed”.
Quote: “We are doing everything possible to ensure that Engels fire brigades, which have just extinguished the flames after the previous strike, are not left without work in the face of the increasingly difficult economic situation in Russia.”
Background:
- On the night of 13-14 January, Russian authorities reported a massive drone attack on a number of Russian oblasts, with local Telegram channels posting videos of large-scale fires at a refinery and a factory. It was noted that 12 oblasts of the Russian Federation were attacked in total and there were claims that air defences had shot down more than a hundred drones.
- On the night of 7-8 January, Ukraine’s defence forces struck the Kombinat Kristal oil storage facility in the city of Engels in Russia’s Saratov Oblast. The Russian military launches strategic aircraft from this airbase for missile strikes on the territory of Ukraine.
