Ding Liren becomes first Chinese man to win world chess championship

Born in Wenzhou, known as China’s ‘chess city’, Ding won the championship after a tiebreak victory over Russia’s Ian Nepomniachtchi in Kazakhstan. No Chinese player had previously won the competition.
