First group of Israeli hostage leaves Gaza Strip

The first 13 Israeli hostages, accompanied by the International Committee of the Red Cross, are leaving the Gaza Strip through the Rafah Crossing Point.

Details: First, the hostages were released to the Red Cross and underwent a brief medical examination, and now they are expected to be taken to Israel.

Hamas militants also released 12 Thai hostages abducted during the 7 October attack.

On 24 November, a four-day truce began between Israel and Hamas militants. In this time, Hamas is to release at least 50 hostages, and Israel must release around 150.

Background: 

  • Qatar’s Foreign Ministry said that a temporary ceasefire between Israel and Hamas will begin on Friday at 07:00, and the first group of 13 Israeli hostages will be released at 16:00.
  • Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant stated that intense fighting in the Middle East would last at least two months after the temporary truce.
