Details: The Air Force Communications Department confirmed that the Russians did not attack Ukraine with Shahed drones on the night of 13-14 October.
Yurii Ihnat, acting Head of the Communications Department of the Air Force Command, confirmed that for the first time in the last 48 days, the night passed without any attacks by Shahed drones.
Meanwhile, the Air Force did not comment on what might have caused the sudden lull on the part of the Russians.
Earlier in October, Ihnat said that the Russian occupation forces were increasingly using drones of an unspecified type which are frequently intercepted by Ukrainian electronic warfare systems and fall to the ground without causing any damage.
Background:
- The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces stated that on 9 October, the Navy and the Security Service of Ukraine struck Russian warehouses near the city of Yeysk. The targets were warehouses in the village of Oktyabrskoye, which, according to the General Staff, were used to store Shahed drones. About 400 attack drones were stored there. After hitting the target, an explosion was observed at the warehouse.
- According to military journalists, September 2024 was the first month in which Ukraine suffered attacks by Russian kamikaze drones on a daily basis. In total during the month, the Russians launched 1,339 Shahed-type attack UAVs on Ukraine, 1,107 of which were shot down. Others were jammed by electronic warfare devices.
