Foundation to support Georgian Legion fighting for Ukraine created in Georgia

Georgian volunteers have created a foundation to support the functioning of the volunteer Georgian Legion, whose soldiers are fighting in the ranks of the Defence Forces of Ukraine.

The foundation’s website is georgianlegion.ge. The platform acts as the main source of information about the Legion’s activities and fundraising for the needs of its fighters.
The Georgian Legion has been fighting on the side of Ukraine against Russia since 2014, with about 1,300 fighters in its ranks. The unit is subordinate to the Defence Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.
More than 50 legion fighters have already lost their lives in combat. The last time the death of one of their fighters was reported was in mid-September.
Background: The Georgian special services said that Mamuka Mamulashvili, Head of the Georgian Legion, is allegedly among the people preparing protests in Georgia to overthrow the government “according to the Ukrainian scenario”.
