Details: On 4 March, France released a quantitative list of military equipment supplied to Ukraine between 24 February 2022 and 31 December 2023 for the first time.

This list has now been updated to include deliveries made before 1 May 2024.

France has supplied Ukraine with military equipment totalling €420 million over the past four months, to which should be added €900 million paid to the European Peace Facility, bringing the total military support since 1 January 2024 to over €1.32 billion.

In particular, France supplied Ukraine with rations (over 100,000 portions), night vision devices (1,526 pieces), 15 Milan anti-tank systems, 34 armoured and medical vehicles, 5 TRM 10,000 lorries, 19 Zodiac Futura boats, 60 reconnaissance UAVs, small arms, fuel, and ammunition in the first months of the year.

France also shipped air-to-ground bombs to Ukraine, the first such supply this year. This includes 63 Mk81 bombs and AASM guided bombs, the number of which is not disclosed.

These financial activities are accompanied by training efforts, as Poland’s and France’s armed forces have already trained almost 2,000 Ukrainian soldiers since the beginning of the year.

“At the same time, France contributes to the security of the Eastern Flank of Europe by deploying land components to Romania as Framework Nation, and to Estonia, rotational air components to Lithuania and from mainland France, as well as a permanent maritime presence in the Baltic and Mediterranean Seas,” the French Ministry of Armed Forces said.

Background: Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron announced the transfer of several French Mirage-2000-5 fighter jets to Ukraine and the training of additional Ukrainian military personnel as part of a “new cooperation” with Kyiv.
