Gender-reveal party right after marriage: Ukrainian soldier gets married near front lines – photos

Soldier Yaroslav married his beloved Oksana just a few dozen kilometres from the contact line. The couple is also expecting a boy.
Following the marriage, they hosted a gender reveal party, the 68th Jaeger Brigade named after Oleksa Dovbush reported on social media.
In the comment to Ukrainska Pravda.Zhyttia, Yaroslav, an operator of an anti-aircraft missile system, said that he met his future wife 6-7 years ago, just before joining the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
He confesses that the first impression was unpleasant, but it did not stop them from developing a strong relationship.
“We gathered with friends to celebrate the New Year. Then it was one thing after the other. We went out for coffee, went on a walk together, and it all began.
We’ve been planning to get married for a long time, but I’m often on the road and have rarely been home. We were waiting for my [military] contract to expire soon,” the man adds.
According to Yaroslav, his military service should have ended on 24 February 2022, the day of Russia’s full-scale invasion. Yaroslav only had to put the final seal on the documents, but he chose not to leave the Armed Forces.
The soldier said the ceremony was held near the front lines due to the impossibility to leave positions for an extended period of time. However, several of the defender’s brothers-in-arms, particularly Senior Sergeant Oleksandr, were able to attend the celebration.
“There are a lot of people in positions, everyone is busy, so there was not much opportunity for many to gather,” the man explains.
According to the soldier, his friend Oleksandr, who also married his sweetheart a month ago, promised to photograph the couple’s happy moments right after the wedding.
On this day, the young people also discovered the gender of their unborn child: Yaroslav and Oksana will have a son. The newlyweds are already considering their child’s name.
The pair intends to have a honeymoon after Ukraine’s victory.
In early June, a former soldier named Oleksii proposed to his beloved Anastasia. The pair met in the clinic while recovering from amputation; both had lost a limb while serving in the Armed Forces.
