German court denies couple’s request to change their “Russian” surname

The administrative court of the German city of Koblenz rejected the lawsuit of a married couple to change their surname, which sounds Russian.

The plaintiffs appealed to the municipality with a request to change their surname, since with the beginning of Russian aggression in Ukraine, they and their daughter allegedly suffered oppression in everyday life because of their “Russian” surname.
