Quote: “By the end of this decade at the latest, Russian troops will be able to attack NATO,” Kahl stated during hearings in the Bundestag’s parliamentary control committee.
“The Kremlin views the Federal Republic of Germany as an enemy,” he explained, noting that Germany is the second-largest country supporting Ukraine in the face of Russian invasion.
“We are in direct conflict with Russia,” he said.
He said Russian leader Vladimir Putin is concerned not only about Ukraine but also about “actually creating a new world order,” and Russian intelligence services are increasingly using all their means “without any remorse.”
“Further escalation of the situation is unlikely,” said Kahl, adding that politicians must provide German security services with the resources and authority to counter these dangers.
