Hong Kong Olympians made history in the first week of the Paris Games, winning two gold and two bronze medals – doubling the city’s Olympic gold medal tally while they were at it.
Fencers Vivian Kong and Edgar Cheung won gold in the women’s individual épée and men’s individual foil, while swimmer Siobhan Haughey secured bronze in both the women’s 200-metre freestyle and 100-metre freestyle.
As of Friday, the Hong Kong, China, team stood at 14th in the medals table with two gold and two bronze medals. China was in the lead with 11 gold, seven silver and seven bronze medals, followed by the US and France.
