In a statement issued in the early hours of Friday, the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) expressed concern after a 67-year-old male cleaner was hurt in an accident involving the collapse of a gate at Tsuen Wan West Sports Centre at around 7 pm on Thursday.

The department said it was “highly concerned” that the worker, who was subcontracted by the LCSD, had been injured, while the collapsed gate also hit a private car parked in the area. The worker was sent to Yan Chai Hospital for treatment and was conscious when he was put into an ambulance, the statement read. The government did not mention what kind of injuries the worker had sustained.

HKFP has reached out to the hospital for updates on the injured worker.

Officers from the Architectural Services Department (ArchSD) arrived at the scene to offer assistance and conduct an investigation of the accident, the government said. The LCSD said it had requested the ArchSD to thoroughly inspect similar metal gates managed by the LCSD.
