Police said at a press conference, and in a press release, that at about 6 pm on Tuesday, they received a report from a 66-year-old woman about her elder brother being missing since Monday afternoon.

At about 1:15 pm on Wednesday, they discovered the body of her 77-year-old brother inside a travel bag at his home in a subdivided unit of the Man Lee Industrial Building in Kwai Chung.

At about 1:35 pm the same day, a pedestrian reported the body of a a man lying outside Fu Ching House on the nearby Tai Wo Hau Estate. The 26-year-old, who was the neighbour of the victim, was suspected to have fallen to his death from the building.

Police said they believe the 26-year-old burgled the home of the older man and strangled him after he was caught red-handed.

“Due to the hot weathe,r and the fact that the victim was killed two or three days ago, forensic examinations showed that the body had started to decompose,” Chau Kin-hung, chief inspector for Kwai Tsing district, said in Cantonese.
