Last 16 employees evacuated from Avdiivka Coke Plant as Russia prepares new attacks
Pravda Ukraine
The last 16 employees at the Avdiivka Coke and Chemical Plant (ACCP), who were responsible for mothballing the plant, were evacuated on 7 November.
Source: Vitalii Barabash, Head of Avdiivka City Military Administration, in an interview with Suspilne Donbas
Details: Barabash said there are still 17 residents in the only surviving shelter of the plant who are refusing to evacuate.
He also said that the Russian army is accumulating strength and preparing for the next wave of mass attacks, bringing in both people and equipment. The Russian command has set a goal of seizing the territory of the ACCP.
Barabash does not see the logic in the seizure of the ACCP by the Russians because it is a kind of trap.
Quote: “The slag heap is a grey area, where they are now firing using artillery, destroying the plant itself, trying to carry out assaults on that front, but there are no breakthroughs, the soldiers of the Defence Forces are courageously defending their positions.”
Background: The Institute for the Study of War reported that Russian forces have crossed the railway line near the village of Stepove (3 kilometres north of the town of Avdiivka) and have been preparing to attack the ACCP in the northern part of Avdiivka from these newly captured positions.
