Last PoW swap was hold on 7 August, Russia does not want to release prisoners – Human Rights Commissioner

Pravda Ukraine

Dmytro Lubinets, the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, does not believe in the possibility of exchanging prisoners of war according to the “all for all” format because Russia does not want to free the PoWs at all – the latest PoW swap was carried out in the summer.

Source: Lubinets in an interview for Ukrinform

Quote: “It’s extremely complicated (to carry an ‘all for all’ exchange – ed.). The last exchange was carried out on 7 August. In my opinion, Russia has chosen a new tactic – not to bring the PoWs and civilians back and spread the information among the relatives of the PoWs that Ukraine is allegedly to blame for not conducting the exchanges.”

Details: Lubinets is convinced that the Russians want to create additional social tension in Ukraine and simply use the families of the PoWs against the Ukrainian government.

Quote: “As of now, I do not believe in the ‘all for all’ exchange. Maybe the situation will change. I can only assure that the team working in this direction – me, the Coordinative Staff for Treating Prisoners of War – everyone works every day to at least unblock the exchange processes to begin with. And then, maybe, we will theoretically be able to exchange ‘all for all’.”

Details: Lubinets said that he has confirmed information that the Ukrainian PoWs were transferred through the territory of Belarus.

He added that the PoWs were there temporarily, but now there is no information that they may be in the territory of Belarus.
