Lukashenko announces deployment of third of Belarusian army to Ukraine’s border

Alexander Lukashenko, the self-proclaimed President of Belarus, stated that his country has sent about a third of its army to the Ukrainian border due to the presence of more than 120,000 Ukrainian soldiers there.

Quote: “Given their [Ukraine’s – ed.] aggressive policy, we introduced and stationed our forces along the whole border at strategic spots to provide defence in the event of a war. Furthermore, special services work there; special forces – Alpha, Almaz, and others – are the most prepared and they do their job.”
Details: Lukashenko believes that Ukrainian forces are near the border with Belarus because they expect that “Putin will again advance from the territory of Belarus.”
“In response, I was forced to transfer almost a third of the army additionally to strengthen what was there before,” claims Lukashenko.
He also stated that “removing our troops from the border with Ukraine would be tantamount to death. War is afoot,” he concluded.
