Quote: “Let us not stop praying for the nations suffering from the wars: the tormented Ukrainian people, the Palestinian and Israeli people, the Sudanese people and many others.”

Details: The Pope of Rome asked rhetorical questions: How many lives have been shattered by armed conflict? How many deaths? And how much destruction, how much suffering, how much poverty?

“May those who have a stake in conflicts listen to the voice of conscience! And let us not forget the martyred Rohingya,” the Pope said.

He recalled the sad Christmas celebrations in Nigeria’s Plateau state where over 140 people were killed and scores more injured on Christmas Eve in communal violence.

Background: On 28 December Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, had a conversation with Pope Francis. They have discussed joint work concerning Zelenskyy’s peace formula.
