Putin arrives in UAE with fighter jets escort

Russian President Vladimir Putin has arrived on a visit to the United Arab Emirates, meeting with UAE Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi.

Details: Putin said that relations between the two countries “have reached an unprecedented high level” and that the UAE is “Russia’s main trading partner in the Arab world”.
Putin also said he would be discussing the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and the war against Ukraine with his counterpart.
Meanwhile, his press secretary Dmitry Peskov said that Putin’s plane had been escorted by Su-35S fighter jets throughout the flight until it landed in Abu Dhabi. “Special overflight permits were obtained from the states over whose territory the aircraft flew to provide the air escort for the presidential jet,” he said.
The Russian Defence Ministry posted a video purporting to show the escort of Putin’s jet.
Background: On 4 December, it was reported that Putin would visit the UAE and Saudi Arabia this week for talks.
