Putin signs law on banning “foreign agents” from distributing advertisement

Russian President Vladimir Putin has issued an order banning foreign agents from distributing advertisements on the information resources belonging to Russian individuals and legal entities.

Quote: “Putin has signed a law banning foreign agents from distributing advertisements on information resources owned by Russian individuals and legal entities,” the newspaper writes.
In addition to this, advertising information resources owned by the so-called foreign agents in the Russian media is also prohibited.
Background: Previously, the Russian Federation’s State Duma (lower chamber of the parliament) passed legislation prohibiting advertisement on websites of foreign agents.
Soon after that, the Russian Federation’s Federation Council, the parliament’s upper chamber, passed legislation prohibiting foreign agents from distributing advertising on the information resources of Russian individuals and legal entities.
