Details: Stoltenberg states that Putin’s visit to North Korea demonstrates how much Putin and Moscow depend on authoritarian countries all over the world right now.
Russia’s closest friends and the biggest admirers of Russian military efforts and war of conquest are North Korea, Iran and China, the official added.
Asked which measures NATO can take in connection with the cooperation of this “axis of evil”, Stoltenberg noted that many sanctions had been implemented against North Korea. The problem is that Russia is violating these sanctions, Stoltenberg said.
He stated that North Korea had delivered over 1 million artillery shells, and this flow of weapons continues.
Putin, as the Kremlin announced before, will go on a visit to North Korea on 18-19 June.
Background:
- Russia and North Korea have enhanced their military cooperation over the past year. Moscow received North Korean ballistic missiles and ammunition and promised to supply Pyongyang with its own technologies for satellite and missile programmes in response.
- Shin Won-sik, Minister of Defence of South Korea, stated that North Korea had sent containers able to fit almost 5 million artillery shells to Russia.
