Details: This data does not include information about Ukrainian healthcare workers who work in the Armed Forces of Ukraine or remained in the Russian occupation.
“Over 100 medical workers were killed by Russian terrorists on the premises of civilian healthcare institutions. This number does not include those who work in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and those who stayed in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine,” Liashko explained.
In addition to this, since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, 1,887 medical institutions have been damaged. 216 more are beyond repair.
The World Bank calculated that at least US$7 billion will be needed for the rebuilding of the premises of the medical facilities.
“The cost of rebuilding our healthcare is incredibly high. However, we realise that the medical system is first and foremost people, our medics who came to their workplaces at the beginning of the full-scale invasion and kept vaccinating, treating and saving their patients and helping them recover,” Liashko added.
He states that the Russian army is also attacking ambulances, which constantly come under fire in frontline areas. As a result, over 500 vehicles have been lost, either completely destroyed or stolen by the Russians.
“It was calculated that as many as 584 vehicles have been lost in the emergency medical aid system. This is every fifth vehicle,” Liashko noted.
Earlier, the death of Yevhen Yurko, a 21-year-old medical assistant who was severely injured while he was helping the people injured as a result of a Russian attack on the city of Kharkiv, was reported.
