Russian 15 January combined attack: Ukrainian air defence downs 77 out of 117 targets, 27 disappear from radar

Russia launched a combined airstrike on Ukraine’s civilian and energy infrastructure on the night of 14-15 January, firing 117 missiles and drones. Ukrainian air defence destroyed 77 of the targets.

Details: Russian forces launched a combined attack on Ukraine with various air, land and sea-based missiles, as well as Shahed attack UAVs and other types of decoy drones.
In total, the air surveillance troops of the Air Force of Ukraine detected and tracked 117 Russian air targets:
– 1 Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missile (launched from Russia’s Belgorod Oblast);
– 7 Kh-22/32 cruise missiles fired from Tu-22M3 aircraft (launched from Russia’s Tula Oblast);
– 4 Kalibr cruise missiles (launched from the Black Sea);
– 27 Kh-101/Kh-55 cruise missiles fired from Tu-95MS strategic bombers (launched from Russia’s Volgograd Oblast);
– 4 Kh-59/Kh-69 guided missiles fired from tactical aircraft (launched from Russia’s Belgorod Oblast);
– 74 Shahed attack UAVs/various decoy drones (launched from the Russian cities of Bryansk, Millerovo, Oryol and Primorsko-Akhtarsk).
Early reports indicate that as of 10:00, 77 air targets had been confirmed to have been shot down:
– 26 Kh-101, Kh-55 and Kalibr cruise missiles;
– 4 Kh-59/Kh-69 guided missiles;
– 47 Shahed attack UAVs/decoy drones; and
– another 27 did not reach their targets (disappeared from radar).

The enemy attacked Ukrainian energy facilities, including gas infrastructure, in Kharkiv, Lviv and Ivano-Frankivsk oblasts. Unfortunately, the Russian attack damaged the facilities.
The Air Force continues to perform tasks to protect the state’s airspace.”
