Russian forces mount largest number of attacks on Pokrovsk, Kurakhove and Toretsk fronts – Ukraine’s General Staff

Over the course of the past day, Russian forces mounted 164 attacks on the positions of Ukrainian forces, with the majority of the attacks taking place on the Pokrovsk, Kurakhove and Toretsk fronts, though the Russians attacked along the entire frontline.

Quote from the General Staff: “According to the available information, yesterday [on 8 September – ed.] enemy forces carried out 73 airstrikes on Ukrainian positions and populated areas (deploying, among other weapons, 94 guided aerial bombs) and attacked [Ukrainian positions and populated areas] 4,770 times, including 190 attacks that deployed multiple-launch rocket systems.
The aggressor forces carried out airstrikes in the vicinity of Petropavlivka and Hlushivka in Kharkiv Oblast; Druzhba, Vodiane, Novodonetske and Oleksandropil in Donetsk Oblast; Kamianske and Lobkove in Zaporizhzhia Oblast; and Odradokamianka in Kherson Oblast, among other sites.”
Details: Russian forces continued to conduct assaults on the Kharkiv front, with Russian and Ukrainian units clashing five times in the vicinity of Vovchansk, Tykhe and Starytsia.
Russian and Ukrainian forces clashed 15 times on the Kupiansk front, with Ukrainian forces repelling Russian assaults near Synkivka, Stepova Novoselivka, Lozova, Stelmakhivka, Miasozharivka and Hlushkivka.
On the Lyman front, Ukrainian units repelled 12 Russian attacks in the vicinity of Nevske, Novosadove, Torske, Dibrova and Charneshchyna.
On the Siversk front, Ukrainian forces repelled 10 Russian assaults near Spirne, Bilohorivka, Hryhorivka and Verkhnokamianske, where the Russians launched four assaults.
On the Kramatorsk front, Ukrainian forces repelled 10 Russian attempts to break through their defences near Andriivka, Maiske, Chasiv Yar, Bila Hora, Predtechyne and Klishchiivka.
Russian forces carried out 24 aircraft-supported assault operations on the Toretsk front, focusing on areas in the vicinity of Pivnichne, Zalizne, New-York, Toretsk and Nelipivka. Russian forces also conducted an assault near Druzhba.
On the Pokrovsk front, Ukrainian forces repelled 39 Russian assaults, with the Russians focusing their efforts on areas near Zelene Pole, Vozdvizhenka, Novotroitske, Hrodivka, Novohrodivka, Selidove, Marynivka and Mykhailivka.
Ukraine’s defence forces are continuing to hold Russian forces back in the vicinity of Krasnohorivka, Dolynivka, Ukrainsk, Heorhiivka and Kostiantynivka on the Kurakhove front, where Russian forces made 30 attempts to break through the Ukrainian defences.
On the Vremivka front, Russian forces made four attempts to assault Ukrainian positions near Vodiane but were unsuccessful.
On the Orikhove front, Russian forces carried out two unsuccessful assault operations near Robotyne and Mala Tokmachka.
“There was no evidence that enemy forces were forming new offensive units on the Volyn and Polissia fronts. The operational situation there has not changed significantly,” the General Staff reported.
The report states that “enemy forces are continuing to maintain presence on the border with Chernihiv and Sumy oblasts and have ramped up airstrikes, launching attacks from Russia on areas in the vicinity of Yampil, Bereza, Bachivsk, Kniazhychi, Kindrativka, Pervomaiske, Olyne, Sumy, Mykolaivka, Semenivka, Karpovychi, Uhly and a number of other towns and villages in the border region.”
The General Staff also reported that over the course of the past day, the Air Force and the Rocket Forces and Artillery of the Ukrainian Armed Forces carried out 11 strikes on clusters of Russian military personnel, weapons and military equipment. They also struck two Russian artillery systems and an air defence system.
