Details: The Russian Foreign Ministry remarked that Trump’s victory reflects American dissatisfaction with Joe Biden’s administration and the Democratic Party’s campaign platform.
The ministry asserted that Trump won despite the “propaganda campaign” waged against him by the Democrats, though this “does not negate the deep civil divide within the US”.
Russia, however, “has no illusions” regarding the elected American president, who is “well known in Russia”.
Quote: “The ruling US political elite, regardless of party affiliation, adheres to an anti-Russian stance and a policy of “containing Moscow”. This policy is not subject to fluctuations in the domestic political climate in the US, whether it’s the America First agenda as interpreted by Trump and his supporters, or the “rules-based world order” that the Democrats are “fixated on”.
Russia will engage with the new administration once it ‘settles’ into the White House, firmly defending Russian national interests and focusing on achieving all set objectives of the special military operation (the official cliche used by Russia to describe the war in Ukraine –ed.) . Our conditions remain unchanged and are well known in Washington.”
Background: Trump has declared his victory in the presidential election and has pledged to fight daily for a “strong, safe, and prosperous America”.
