Journalists from the Centre for Investigative Journalism have learned that the Russians are installing metal fences near the Kerch Bridge in temporarily occupied Crimea to protect the bridge’s concrete piers from attacks by underwater and surface drones. The length of these fences is currently about 600 metres.

Russian air defence systems were spotted on the southern part of Tuzla Island, including a Pantsir-S1 self-propelled air defence system deployed under the bridge.

In addition, on the other side of the island, journalists observed a line of angular reflectors that enhance the operation of Russian electronic warfare systems. The metal tetrahedrons are likely to serve as decoys for Ukrainian missiles and drones.

In addition, Russian forces have set up about 10 observation posts, machine gun nests and air defence positions along the southern side of the Kerch Bridge, which they have covered with camouflage nets.
