The Russians attacked Ukraine with ten missiles of various types and 81 Shahed attack drones on the night of 26-27 August. The Ukrainian Air Force downed five cruise missiles and 60 UAVs.
Source: Lieutenant General Mykola Oleshchuk, Commander of Ukraine’s Air Force, on Telegram
Details: Oleshchuk reported that the Russians launched:
- Three Kh-47M2 Kinzhal aeroballistic missiles (from MiG-31K aircraft from the airspace of Lipetsk Oblast, Russia)
- One Iskander-M ballistic missile (from Crimea)
- One Iskander-K cruise missile (from Voronezh Oblast, Russia)
- Five Kh-101 cruise missiles (from Tu-22M3 bombers from the airspace of Volgograd Oblast, Russia), and 81 Shahed attack UAVs (from Yeysk and Kursk Oblasts, Russia).
Quote from Oleshchuk: “As of 09:00, as a result of combat operations, [Ukraine’s] air defence shot down 5 Kh-101 cruise missiles and 60 Shahed-131/136 attack UAVs.
Combat operations were conducted in most oblasts of the country: Kyiv, Khmelnytskyi, Rivne, Vinnytsia, Cherkasy, Kherson, Mykolaiv, Zaporizhzhia, Khmelnytskyi, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava, Zhytomyr, Sumy, Chernihiv and Kirovohrad oblasts.”
Details: He emphasised that ten Russian drones were lost in terms of their location (presumably crashed) on the territory of Ukraine, one crossed the border with Belarus, and about ten more are in Ukrainian airspace, so the combat work continues.
“Aircraft, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare equipment and mobile fire groups from the Ukrainian defence forces are involved in repelling the enemy’s air attack,” Oleshchuk summed up.
