Quote from Zelenskyy: “Another massive Russian attack in the middle of winter, once again targeting our energy infrastructure. This time, their focus was on gas facilities and energy systems essential for keeping life running smoothly. Over 40 missiles were launched, including ballistic ones, with at least 30 successfully intercepted. More than 70 Russian attack drones were deployed overnight.”
Details: The president emphasised that, thanks to air defence systems and all the units involved, Ukraine had successfully maintained the operation of its energy system.
He also highlighted the ongoing need to strengthen Ukraine’s air defence capabilities.
Zelenskyy reiterated that, during the NATO summit in Washington and meetings of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group (also known as the Ramstein format), Ukraine’s partners had made commitments that remain only partially fulfilled. These include agreements on licensing the production of air defence and missile defence systems.
He stressed that fulfilling these promises could provide Ukraine with one of the most effective security guarantees, noting that “this is both realistic and essential”.
Quote: “We are grateful to everyone supporting our nation. But this goes far beyond Ukraine’s needs. Right now, Ukraine’s defence is testing whether Europe and the democratic world can reliably and sustainably prevent wars for the long term,” Zelenskyy said.
