Russia’s Internal Affairs Ministry complains about lack of 150,000 policemen

Vladimir Kolokoltsev, Acting Minister of Internal Affairs of Russia, has claimed that Russia is lacking 152 000 policemen, and his ministry does not have sufficient funding.

Quote: “We are doing what we can. But I can say what we are not able to do. We are unable to print money and increase salaries…The situation has worsened. As of today we are understaffed and lack 152,000 policemen all over the country.”

Details: He added that this is about 20% of the country’s police personnel. The deficit of district police officers in Moscow is 75%.

Novaya Gazeta notes that other Russian institutions also face the population’s unwillingness to work: Viacheslav Volodin, the spokesperson of the State Duma of Russia, has recently revealed the scale of the deficit of medical staff, which is 30,000.

With that Denis Manturov, candidate for the position of the First Deputy Prime Minister, stated during his speech in the State Duma (the parliament) that the authorities engaged over 500,000 new employees over the last eighteen  months in Russia’s defence industry.
