Rush hour commuters were evacuated from an Island Line MTR train on Monday morning after a passenger spotted a 40cm-long snake scurrying around the carriage.

The incident, at 7:37am, led to all passengers being asked to leave the train at Admiralty station and transfer to the next service, Sing Tao reported. Train services were not affected, as a snake catcher was summoned by staff.

Last Thursday, a similar serpentine drama unfolded at the MCL Cinema at Sha Tin’s New Town Plaza. HK01 reported that a 16-year-old boy’s 30cm-long pet python went missing in the auditorium. The MX4D Movie Town screen was shut down for the day with MCL offering refunds.

The boy, accompanied by police and his mother, later recovered the snake at the incident.
