Details: Ukraine will receive funds under the E-Governance for Accountability and Participation (EGAP) project, which promotes the digital transformation of the Ukrainian government and has been supported by Switzerland since 2015.

“The SDC [Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation] will provide a total of CHF 58.7 million over the 2024–28 period,” the statement said.

The funding will be directed, in particular, to projects that are essential for the country’s future recovery in regions of Ukraine that have been directly affected by the war. The key areas include healthcare, education and humanitarian mine clearance.

Switzerland plans to officially announce its assistance at the next Ukraine Recovery Conference, which will be held in Berlin on 11-12 June.

Background

  • In April, Switzerland announced that it plans to strengthen Ukraine’s economic development and long-term recovery over the next twelve years and will allocate €5 billion for this purpose.
  • At the same time, the Swiss parliament expectedly rejected a proposal that would have provided Ukraine with US$5.5 billion in aid.
