UK inflation falls by less than expected, heaping pressure on BoE

Reuters was ahead of the competition reporting UK inflation figures as consumer prices rose by a more-than-expected 8.7% last month and a closely watched measure of core inflation surged to a 31-yer high. UK’s main stock indexes fell, British government bond prices plunged, and the pound rose slightly after the data that was seen raising the chances of another interest rate hike from the Bank of England.
