Lieutenant General Mykola Oleshchuk, Commander of Ukraine’s Air Force, has stated that anti-aircraft missile units, including those equipped with Western-supplied Patriot air defence systems, continue to perform combat missions in designated frontline areas.

Quote: “Another challenging day of war! The enemy continues to attack Ukraine on various fronts using guided aerial bombs and air-launched missiles.

The Air Force is engaging all available assets and equipment to counteract enemy tactical aircraft, keep them at a distance, hamper the actions of enemy Sukhoi warplanes to the fullest extent possible, and, should the opportunity arise, destroy them!

I assure you that anti-aircraft missile units, including those equipped with Patriots, continue to carry out tasks in designated frontline areas.”

Details: Oleshchuk noted that Ukrainian pilots also perform combat missions every day, heroically crushing Russian occupying forces.

The defenders of the Ukrainian skies pay a high price to deter and destroy the Russians in the air, on the ground and at sea.

Oleshchuk expressed his gratitude to “everyone in the service and everyone who helps” to preserve the future of the Ukrainian people and particularly praised the enormous contribution of thousands of volunteers.

Why this is important: International media outlets reported that the Russians had destroyed two Patriot systems near the city of Pokrovsk in Donetsk Oblast. Ukrainian forces did not comment on the matter.

A Patriot air defence division (or battery) consists of a command post, radar, and up to eight launchers, each with four launch containers capable of using different types of missiles.
