Quote: “During the period of using the people’s satellite and accessing the constellation of ICEYE satellites, our specialists have taken a total of 4,173 images of enemy targets, including:
- 370 air bases;
- 238 positions of air defence systems and radio reconnaissance;
- 153 oil or fuel depots;
- 147 missile, aerial weapons and ammunition storage points;
- 17 naval bases.”

Details: In addition, the people’s satellite assists in monitoring facilities within the Russian defence industrial base and its logistics network, including the illegal bridge between Russia and occupied Crimea.

The advantage of the ICEYE satellite lies in its ability to clearly detect clusters of even meticulously camouflaged mechanised Russian units.
“Approximately 38% of the entire array of data obtained thanks to ICEYE was used to prepare strikes on the enemy – this is billions of dollars in losses for Russia, and the price of its aggression will only increase,” the DIU added.

Furthermore, the people’s satellite can accurately identify the type and model of detected combat aircraft, ships, Russian air defence systems and also record the level of damage to affected targets.

Background: On 18 August 2022, the Serhii Prytula Foundation, a Ukrainian charitable foundation fundraising for Ukraine’s military and humanitarian needs, raised 600 million hryvnias [approximately US$16 million at that time] to purchase access to a database of satellite images for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
