The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine reported that over 90% of the purchased kits have already been delivered to military units. The procurement was made as part of the first tenders of the State Logistics Operator agency for the purchase of women’s uniforms.
The kits that female military personnel receive include:
- a jacket;
- trousers;
- two identification patches.
The Defence Ministry said that women’s military clothing differs from men’s in terms of shape and complexity of tailoring. The kits for female defenders are available in sizes ranging from 40 to 64 (UK size 6 to 30) and are designed for heights from 146 to 188 cm.
Deputy Defence Minister Dmytro Klmenkov stated that the ministry continues to work on ensuring equality between women and men in the military ranks.
Quote: “We must guarantee equal opportunities for everyone defending our land. Therefore, the procurement of women’s military uniforms is an important step in creating comfortable conditions for our female defenders,” said the official.
Officially, women’s uniforms were put into provision in August 2023 after a month of testing. The Armed Forces of Ukraine began receiving the clothing sets for the first time in February 2024. At that time, the Ministry of Defence issued 50,000 summer field uniforms.
