Details: The Interior Ministry told reporters that the deputy head of the National Police Tyshlek was suspended from duty for a month while an official investigation was carried out. On 29 November he returned to service.

Quote: “The official investigation did not establish facts that would indicate the existence of Dmytro Tyshlek connections with any criminal authorities, including those mentioned in the journalistic investigation.”

Details: Also, the Ministry of Internal Affairs noted that they have no grounds for checking Tyshlek on a polygraph, and he does not express such a desire on his own initiative.

Background: Bihus.Info, a Ukrainian investigative reporting outlet, discovered that as of this summer, the wife of Dmytro Tyshlek, Deputy Chief of Ukraine’s National Police, had still not got rid of her Russian passport, and Tyshlek himself has been spotted driving cars and staying in properties owned by a Russian criminal gang leader.

After the published investigation, Tyshlek publicly filed a statement with the State Bureau of Investigation so that law enforcement officers would check the published information.
