Ukraine’s gas production rises to its highest level since start of full-scale Russian invasion

Gross natural gas production in Ukraine in October increased by 2.3% year-on-year – to 1.663 billion cubic metres (bcm). This is the highest monthly production since January 2022, before the full-scale Russian invasion.

Details: It is noted that the average daily gross natural gas production in October amounted to 53.6 million cubic metres, 1.3% more than in September. This is also the highest average daily production since February 2022.

In total, Ukraine produced almost 15.85 bcm of natural gas in ten months of 2024, which is 2% more than in 2023 and 2.7% more than in 2022.

Ukrgasvydobuvannya increased natural gas production by 1.6% to 1.24 billion cubic metres in October 2024. The company produced 12.1 billion cubic metres of gas in ten months of 2024, up 5.4% year-on-year.

Ukrnafta increased gas production by 4.6% to 96.4 million cubic metres in September. Since the beginning of the year, the company has produced 967 million cubic metres, up 7% year-on-year.

Private companies increased gas production by 4.4% year-on-year – to 324 million cubic metres. In total, private companies produced 2.75 bcm of natural gas in the first 10 months of this year, 12% less than in 2023.

ExPro predicts that gross natural gas production in Ukraine may increase by 2.2% or 420 million cubic metres to 19.1 billion cubic metres in 2024.

Background: In three quarters of 2024, Naftogaz Group companies produced more than 11 bcm of gas, which is more than in the same period in 2023.
