The Ukrainian Prime Minister said that the following agreements were reached:

  • The government of Slovakia will not impede Ukraine from purchasing weapons and equipment from Slovak businesses.
  • Collaboration on the supply of defensive technology by a Slovak company was agreed upon.
  • Slovakia will support the Ukraine Facility program, which involves allocating €50 billion to Ukraine from the European Union.
  • Prime Minister Fico assured full support for Ukraine’s European integration aspirations.

Quote: “Ukraine and Slovakia continue fruitful cooperation for the security and prosperity of our countries. Grateful for the Slovak people who are assisting Ukraine and Ukrainians during these challenging times,” commented Denys Shmyhal.

Background:

  • Before his visit to Ukraine, Fico made a number of scandalous statements. In particular, Fico said that Ukraine would have to give up part of its territory to Russia.
  • The day before, when Russia launched a large-scale missile attack on Ukraine, particularly Kyiv, Fico said that life in the Ukrainian capital was “absolutely normal“.
