Details: The equipment was transferred within the project of international technical aid “Comprehensive Support to the National Mine Action Sector in Ukraine – Operational Assistance to State Operators in Humanitarian Mine Action”, in which the EU was the development partner, and the state institution Central Project Management Agency (CPMA, Lithuania) was the executor.

The MV-10 system is already being used by the SES sappers who clear the territories of Ukraine, which are contaminated with explosives.

These vehicles are particularly efficient in clearing large areas and are capable of defusing both anti-personnel and anti-tank mines, as well as other unexploded ordnance. They can operate even on steep slopes.

The main advantage of the system is that it is safe for operation thanks to remote control.

Demining support also includes a special training course for Ukrainian operators who will work with the MV-10 system. The training for the crews of mechanised demining vehicles was conducted this spring.

Background:

  • In early April, the Ministry of Integration of Ukraine reported that Ukraine’s international partners had allocated over US$700 million for humanitarian demining.
  • In December, Lithuania presented an updated concept of the demining coalition for Ukraine. The demining coalition provides for the elements of both humanitarian demining of liberated occupied territories and combat demining on the contact line with Russian troops.
