Ukraine’s Ukrenergo to take €30 million loan to rebuild substation in Lviv Oblast

Ukrenergo, a Ukrainian national power company, will attract a €30.4 million loan from the German state-owned bank KfW as part of the Improving the Efficiency of Electricity Transmission (Integration of the Ukrainian IPS into the European Integrated Power System) IV project.

Details: “Today we have made a decision to raise another €30 million from the German state bank KfW. These funds will be used to rebuild one of the substations in Lviv Oblast. This will increase the resilience of our power grid and improve its integration with the European one,” the prime minister noted.

On 7 June, Ukraine’s National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Public Utilities decided to approve an agreement to repay the debt to the state for fulfilling the guarantee obligations under the guarantee agreement for this project.

Background: Ukraine’s Cabinet of Ministers (the Ukrainian government) is preparing a soft loan programme to purchase energy equipment for households and businesses.
