Details: The contract for the upgrade of the aircraft was signed in December 2021.
The contract is worth UAH 430 million (about USD 10,4 million). The aircraft was handed over to the State Emergency Service in 2023. Antonov conducted flight tests in the context of a full-scale war.
The contract provided for the deep modernisation of an An-32B aircraft, which was on the balance sheet of Antonov.
This aircraft was built back in 2011 under an export contract for Iraq. At that time, the Ministry of Defence of the Arab country did not accept one of the contracted Ukrainian aircraft due to alleged non-compliance with the tender conditions. As a result, it was decided to use this aircraft to make a firefighting An-32P for a domestic customer.
The An-32P aircraft first flew in 1993. It was developed by Antonov for extinguishing large forest fires and airborne rescue operations.
