Details: “Unit commanders will be able to use these funds to purchase the drones that are most effective for performing tasks at the front.
This is another step towards creating the most flexible system for providing the military with everything they need to defend Ukraine,” said Ukraine’s Minister of Defence Rustem Umierov.
As reported, in December 2024, Ukraine’s Ministry of Defence allocated UAH 2.1 billion (about US$49.8 million) directly to the combat units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for the purchase of drones.
This made it possible to quickly meet the needs of the brigades and increase the diversification of centralised control.
Background:
- A key component for the production of fibre-optic drones has fallen in price several times and become more affordable for defence companies.
- Ukrainian defence companies are preparing to launch mass production of fibre-optic drones that are invulnerable to electronic warfare.
