Ukrainian Borkovskyi wins individual race at 2025 Winter Universiade

The biathlon competition at the 32nd World University Games Winter has begun in Turin, Italy, with the men competing in the short individual race. Ukrainian Bohdan Borkovskyi triumphed in the 15-kilometre race, which featured four shooting stages, despite missing three targets.

The 20-year-old Borkovskyi finished 25.5 seconds ahead of Finland’s Patrick Kuuttinen, who hit all his targets to claim silver. Czech athlete Petr Hák took the bronze.
Serhii Suprun and Vladyslav Chykhar finished just outside the podium, securing fourth and fifth places, respectively.
Background: Also today, on 14 January, the women’s short individual race will take place in Turin, with Ukraine represented by Oleksandra Merkushyna, Daryna Chalyk, Liliia Steblina, and Kseniia Prykhodko.
