“The concern’s companies have not only established and are scaling up mass production of artillery shells, as well as Soviet-calibre mortar mines, but are also gradually moving to the production of NATO-calibre ammunition – 60mm mortar mines,” Smetanin said.
He also added that Ukrainian Defense Industry companies are doing everything possible to increase the production of weapons and military equipment, both at domestic facilities and at those located outside the state.
Thanks to the work of the Ministry of Strategic Industries, Ukraine managed to attract a significant amount of Ukrainian funds to scale up its production, in particular of ammunition. However, at the moment, the capacity is about three times higher than the current level of funding.
“We understand that our capacities, even with a large increase in production, are not enough to wage war on parity terms. Therefore, the task of Ukrainian Defense Industry companies and Ukraine’s allies is to provide our defence forces with sufficient ammunition to liberate the temporarily occupied territories,” the head of Ukrainian Defense Industry summed up.
Background: The Ukrainian Defense Industry concern has brought back tenders for 23 product categories on the public electronic procurement system Prozorro, and focused on centralised procurement.
