Ukrainian fencer Olha Kharlan will fight for bronze in semi-final of 2024 Olympics

Olha Kharlan, a Ukrainian fencer, has finished another match in the individual sabre tournament at the 2024 Olympics.

In the semi-final Kharlan was defeated by French fencer Sara Balzer, who is second in the International Fencing Federation rating, with a score 7-15.
In the final for bronze, which will start today at 21:50 Kyiv time, Kharlan will fight against the loser of the match between the winners of 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Manon Brunet from France and Choi Soo-yeon from South Korea.
Before that Kharlan confidently defeated Shihomi Fukushima from Japan in 1/16, a former Russian Anna Bashta in 1/8 and a Hungarian Anna Marton in 1/4.
Olha Kharlan is an Olympic champion of Beijing-2008 (team sabre), as well as a bronze winner of London-2012 and Rio-2016 (individual sabre). Moreover, she won a silver medal in team sabre during Rio-2016.
Background: In the 1/16 final of the 2024 Olympics, Kharlan’s teammates Olena Kravatska and Alina Komashchuk were defeated and dropped out of the fight for personal awards.
