Ukrainian Parliament appoints Olha Stefanishyna as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice of Ukraine

The Verkhovna Rada (Ukrainian parliament) voted in favour of appointing Olha Stefanishyna as minister of justice – deputy prime minister for European and Euroatlantic integration of Ukraine on 5 September.

Details: The decision was supported by 253 MPs.

Previously: The Verkhovna Rada voted in favour of her dismissal from the position of deputy prime minister. MPs also supported the dismissal of Denys Maliuska from the position of the minister of justice of Ukraine.

Sources of Ukrainska Pravda reported that Stefanishyna may replace Denys Maliuska in the position of Ukraine’s minister of justice, and the position of the minister will be combined with her current position of deputy prime minister for European and Euroatlantic integration.

Stefanishyna was appointed as deputy prime minister for European and Euroatlantic integration of Ukraine in June 2020. Before that she was the director general of the governmental office for coordination of European and Euroatlantic integration of Ukraine.

On 4 September Davyd Arakhamiia, the leader of the Servant of the People party faction in the Ukrainian parliament, announced a government reshuffle, within which “more than 50% of staff” of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine will be dismissed.

Dmytro Kuleba was dismissed as minister of foreign affairs on 5 September.
