The Verkhovna Rada (Ukrainian parliament) claims that the United States has political readiness for additional deliveries of ATACMS missiles to Ukraine.

Quote: “Yes, now there is such political readiness,” Ustinova said, answering a question about the White House’s readiness for such supplies, noting that a year ago the decisions of the United States to provide these missiles were guided by fears of escalation.
“Now, after we sank their ships there [in Crimea – ed.], bombed the headquarters of the Black Sea Fleet in Sevastopol and the plant in Kerch, I see that this fear has disappeared.
And therefore, we are counting on [additional – ed.] ATACMS,” the lawmaker said.
Ustinova noted that in the United States there are not so many of them, just about 1,500, and they are different ones too: with a range of 165 km and 300 km, cluster and high-explosive.
“We need 300-kilometre [missiles – ed.]. They will not allow us to win the war, but still, it will be a little game changer, as HIMARS were,” she explained.
Background:
- In early November, a group of high-ranking Republicans in the US Congress called on President Joe Biden to send missiles with a longer effective range to Ukraine.
- Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed in his evening address that Ukraine had deployed ATACMS missiles successfully, striking at the airfields of Russian forces in occupied Berdiansk and Luhansk.
- On Tuesday, 17 October, the White House officially confirmed that Ukraine recently received long-range ATACMS missiles in a modification that has a range of 165 kilometres.
- According to the New York Times, so far, the United States has sent about 20 ATACMS missiles to Ukraine.
