Ukrainian sprint canoeists Luzan and Rybachok qualify for canoe double semi-finals at 2024 Olympics

Ukrainian canoeists Liudmyla Luzan and Anastasiia Rybachok have qualified for the semi-finals of the women’s canoe double 500 m at the 2024 Olympic Games.

Details: The Ukrainians finished second in their heat behind China, losing by 1:55.88 minutes.
It should be noted that Luzan and Rybachok were silver medallists at the 2020 Olympics (held in 2021) in this discipline. Moreover, at the 2020 Games in Tokyo, Liudmyla won bronze in the women’s canoe single 200 m.
The semi-final involving the Ukrainian athletes will take place on Friday, 9 August.
Background:
- The Ukrainian team, consisting of Oleg Kukharyk, Dmytro Danilenko, Igor Trunov, and Ivan Semykin, failed to qualify for the semi-finals of the men’s kayak four. They will compete in the quarterfinals, which will take place today, 6 August, starting at 14:10 Kyiv time.
- The day before, slalom racer Viktoriia Us failed to qualify for the semi-finals of the kayak cross despite being second throughout the race. Earlier, she failed to win an Olympic medal in the canoe single slalom, and before that, she failed to qualify for the kayak single final.
