Details: The plan includes humanitarian aid, support for the population, and continued mine clearance efforts, and aims to strengthen Ukraine’s export potential in supplying agricultural products to international markets.

Background:

  • The WFP operates in Ukraine at the government’s invitation. From 2022 to 2024, it ran several programmes providing direct financial support to Ukrainians affected by Russia’s military aggression.
  • In addition, the WFP works with Ukraine to implement the Grain from Ukraine programme, in which Ukrainian agricultural products are purchased for countries facing food shortages. As part of this initiative, 11 ships carrying over 200,000 tonnes of agricultural products have been sent to Somalia, Ethiopia, Kenya, Yemen, Nigeria, Sudan, Palestine, Malawi, Mozambique and other countries.
