Details: Kyslytsia said the issue of the DPRK’s supply of ballistic missiles to Russia and their use against Ukraine will be discussed at the UN Security Council on 10 January, a meeting convened by Security Council’s partner members in coordination with Ukraine.
Background:
- On 4 January, White House Spokesman John Kirby said Russia has used missiles purchased from North Korea at least twice: on 30 December 2023, when a missile hit an open field in Zaporizhzhia Oblast, and on 2 January 2024 (the consequences of the use are still being assessed).
- The United States was preparing additional sanctions against those involved in the transfer of military assistance, including ballistic missiles, to Russia from North Korea (DPRK) and Iran.
