Quote: “Specifically, assistance will continue for families with children living within a 30-kilometre zone of the front line in seven [oblasts]. These families will receive 21,800 UAH [about US$525] to prepare for winter,” the press service of the President’s Office reports.
It is noted that more than 103,000 people have already received payments, including 44,000 children. In addition, almost 5,000 families have received household fuel.
Another programme will continue as well. Under it, families with children will receive a one-time assistance of UAH 10,800 (about US$260) after leaving hromadas of Sumy and Kharkiv oblasts where mandatory evacuation has been announced [a hromada is an administrative unit designating a town, village or several villages and their adjacent territories – ed.].
In addition, the number of schools in the frontline areas that will receive cash grants from UNICEF to modernise their cafeterias and prepare for winter will increase from 350 to 800.
Background: Numerous humanitarian organisations have provided at least one type of assistance to 7.2 million Ukrainians between January and September 2024.
