Details: The wanted posters disappeared quickly after being accidentally discovered by RIA Novosti, a Russian news agency, on 4 May.
Mediazona reports that both Ukrainian presidents were put on a wanted list by a duty station of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the occupied part of Donetsk Oblast in Ukraine. It happened no later than 22 February but the announcements were only noticed on 4 May.
Quote: “On 6 May, after the announcements were discovered, the Ministry of Internal Affairs made an untypical comment, saying that it was just a ‘technical executor’ in putting (the two Ukrainian presidents – ed.) on a wanted list: ‘In this case the decision to put them on a wanted list and to remove them from it is adopted by the Investigative Committee of Russia and its territorial units’.”
Background: On 4 May it was revealed that the website of Russia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs had posted a message about Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and other Ukrainian politicians being put on the wanted list.
